Hello all,

My Fiance' and I are looking to move to the northern charlotte/huntersville area within the next 6-12 months. We have some friends in Waxhaw and another in Cornelius, but I have noticed housing prices in the northern Charlotte areas ( areas about 7-10 miles north of the city ) are the most reasonable for a starter home. I am just curious about the kinds of neighborhoods we can find in the northern charlotte / souther huntersville area near I77. Any advice on the crime rates and quality of the neighborhoods. We are just looking for a starter home in a sub-development perhaps....something under $150k.

Thanks in advance !

Northern Charlotte/Huntersville is a great place to be... it's realtively safe and you will do well for your money.

Here are a few:

Monteith Park-- Huntersville
Heritage Green-- Cornelius
Alexander Chase-- Cornelius

All are great. I am a realtor, I know these communities well, nice, safe, good areas...

Good luck with your move!

hey loves2quilt...

Mallard Trace is a nice community, you are right, to the east a bit, in Charlotte. More towards the area we call "The University Area" near University of North Carolina at Charlotte....which is a nice area. Good shopping, restaurants, etc.

Mallard Trace was built in the late 80's and homes right now are harder to come by and are in the low 200's now...give or take

How would Mallard Trace be as an investment property? Would you be likely to see good appreciation there? And how long to uptown (commute) Thanks....
