My wife and I are visiting Charlotte in a couple of weeks and plan to lodge in Uptown during our stay. Please suggest a nice (e.g., 3 or 4 star) hotel in a walkable and conveniently situated area of Uptown. Thanks!

I like the Omni, it's right in the center of uptown

Hyatt House is brand new and gets good reviews on tripadvisor.com. I have never seen the rooms, but they host events I've attended. It's modern and clean.

I can second Hyatt House. I've stayed there and it's modern and sparkling clean and not too expensive.

Lots of them! And alot of choices including walking. i.e. Ever been for a ride in a real horse drawn carriage? A very reasonable price with a very informative tour as you ride.

I'd recommend either The Dunhill or The Westin... both good choices. The Dunhill is closer to center city, but both are downtown.

Aloft is nice, but more of a party hotel than some would be comfortable with, especially on the weekends. The Omni is nice.

If you feel like spending the money, you really can't beat the Ritz. The service is pretty damn amazing.
