Hi guys. I'm planning a move to Charlotte NC in about 2-3 months and I'm having a really hard time finding a place that accepts German Shepherds. I'm a firm believer that your dog is a reflection of you and how you raise it and even though I know she's a very sweet and loving dog a lot of people consider her an "aggressive breed" due to her size. I need help with finding a place that accepts her so any feedback is very much appreciated.

Have you tried Craigslist? I usually rent my properties through Craigslist... I wouldn't have any problem with a German Shepherd. I might have a house (with a fenced yard) on the market soon. Where do you want to be, when do you need it and what is your budget? The house I'm renting is about 1650 ft2 with a detached brick garage/workshop and a full interior access basement. Remodeled kitchen with granite and stainless steel appliances, remodeled bathroom, screened in rear porch, outdoor brick patio, and a 7 minute commute to uptown. Zoned for Myers Park HS.

If you're interested let me know. I require a credit check, references, first and last months rent, security deposit and pet deposit.

It sounds like you are going to need to find an individual homeowner willing to rent to you, not a property management group.

Start with Craig's List. When you find places that interest you, try to start a conversation with the owner to see if you can get him to accept your dog.

Best of luck, I love German Shepard's myself

Shepards aren't considered a dangerous breed because of their size. They are considered that because some of them can be quite aggressive no matter the size. It is a liability concern for management groups. My insurance company dropped me because of a loose dog that was on my property at the same time they were doing an inspection. Talk about bad timing. We did get everything squared away.
