Visited Charlotte and liked it very nice but to spread out, seems small. The cost of living in Charlotte seems better then Atlanta. My husband & I have no kids & are 40yrs old and looking for a bit more then Charlotte were thinking. Would you say there is a big difference between Charlotte and Atlanta? Please all info or opinions on the two places would be much appreciated.
Thanks

You seemed to have answered your own question. Atlanta is 3x the size, more diverse and is known for being a black mecca. Both exists well within the cultural south border but are heavily populated with transplants, primarily from the northeast.

With the massive population difference, of course you'll have more upscale shopping, museums, amenities, etc....plus the downside, traffic woes, etc.

Atlanta is no more of a city than Charlotte is. Its population is concentrated in sprawling suburbs. Anyone who seriously compares Atlanta to a real city, like Boston, DC, Philly, SF. -- let alone NY -- is delusional. Life in Atl is no different than life in Charlotte.
