Hi, Me, DH and our 4 boys are considering relocating to Taylorsville, NC from LI NY. We love what we have seen and read about the community, activities for children, and especially the mountain views. We want to be in the mountains but still close enough to areas with jobs. Also coming are 2 others (one really likes Hickory) and they need sales and construction type work. Was wondering if anyone knows if there is easy work to be found and if there is any sections with drugs or the like to stay away from. Me and DH are coming in two weeks to look at some homes and he is ready to buy, so I want to keep safe. Also are the school kids in Taylorsville welcoming to newcomers? ( I read one post in Lenoir they are not)Thanks!j

You sure about that? Hickory might be a better choice for you, you have more people from "out of state" living here, if you worry about your kids, depending what age your kids are, usually they do not have a problem till they are older, kids getting along w/ each other, mostly the parents are the problem.
Check out the Mountain View Area of Hickory, its a growing area and has great views too.
Hope this helps.

Default Taylorsville

I am looking to move from Hickory to Taylorsville and needed some information. I have 2 teenage boys, one goes to high school and the other works. I was needing some information on the high school there and some possible jobs for my other boy. Also, what is there to do there for them? Are the rents reasonable? Are there houses for rent or just mobile homes? I have heard alot of good things about Taylorsville and am very interested in moving to the area. I know its a small town but thats okay with me being if I need to go to the mall I can just shoot down to Hickory. Does it snow alot there? are there any skateboard parks or airsoft places there for the kids?
Any information would be very helpful....
TY
