I've looked online at the Westfield mall in Gastonia and the Northlake mall in Charlotte . Being located between the two I was wondering which mall Belmont residents frequented more often and why?

Depends on the needs and if they need a particular store....most people shop within Gaston county if they can, the sales tax is less than in Mecklenburg. And many of us gastonites do not like the traffic of the Charlotte area.

Thanks, I didn't know about the differing tax and I wondered about the traffic. We haven't been too impressed by Westfield in Sarasota but the other factors might steer us towards it anyway.

At the mall in Gastonia and surrounding area strip malls you can find a great selection of stores. There are some of the higher-end stores that you might need to go to Charlotte for, but that would be a good afternoon trip.

When you go to Westfield Eastridge from Belmont, you are passing a lot of other shopping. You can save a lot of gas if you plan your shopping trip.

Good idea. I saw there was a Kohl's that way. We would put that on our itinerary.

I live in Kings Mountain, so I know the shopping corridor in Gastonia very well. Block off a Sunday afternoon & drive into Gastonia on Wilkinson/Franklin. Stop off & check out the shopping. It might take you 2 trips. Sunday afternoon gives you minimal traffic.

Plan another excursion to check out the Compare Foods on West Franklin & the Ingles in Kings Mountain.

FYI, Nicks Steak & Taphouse in Gastonia & Battleground Steakhouse & Bar in Kings Mountain are connected to the Old Stone Steakhouse.

Just checked out Compare Foods for the first time online. Great prices! The company is growing also.

The Compare Foods on West Franklin is in an old Winn-Dixie. It's fine inside. There's an Ingles in Dallas, but Kings Mountain's store is bigger, so go there to check out the chain. Then you can go to the Dallas store unless you want something that you need to go to Kings Mountain for. Check the Ingles flyer online, but when you click for NC, then pick eastern NC. They're headquartered in Asheville, so this is east to them.

I live in Gastonia and would not step foot in Compare Foods again yes it is indeed cheap but make sure you watch the dates and their meat selection is as low of quality as you can get. Ingles on the other hand especially the one in Dallas is very nice and have a wonderful selection their is one not far from it in Bessemer that is outdated by 20 years at least.

As far as the mall in some respect they are quite different I consider the North Lake Mall a slightly higher scale and find their prices reflect that as well. The North Lake doesn't have a JCP as well. Between the New Hope exit 20 and exit 22 their are enough stores to spend two or three days shopping.
