Default Closest Skiing?

I'm considering a move to the Charlotte area and I was wondering how far does one have to go to snow ski? I just got my 9 year old on skiis last year for the 1st time and I would hate to move and not give her the opportunities to ski every year.

Others can probably give you better advice on where specifically to go but depending on whether or not you are in south Charlotte or north of Charlotte you would travel up to Boone for skiing and need between 2.5 to 3 hours.

While Boone does offer the opportunity to be able to ski and be home all in the same day you will probably be disappointed with it. We always go to W. Virginia as they have more trail and just in general better skiing

Boone, NC about 2.5 hours NW of Charlotte, and West Virginia 2.5 hours north of Charlotte. WV seems to be your best bet.

Yep. I'm originally from West Virginia and Canaan Valley or Snowshoe are the two more popular resorts.

Go up to Vermont or Mont Tremblant in Canada

The "snow" in NC and VA is more like... slush.
Unless we have a really special winter.
