OK --- This will be my most opened ended question yet, hopefully it will not be one of those threads that turns into a natives vs. newbies wrestling match...
Just those of you natives who know the area, and those of you who are still considered "transplants" tell me your thoughts. Since I haven't been there yet all I can say is the pictures look pretty and kind of remind me of places I have enjoyed before. I am not necessarily looking to buy there but right now thinking about renting for a year or more while I get my bearings. So any random thoughts about Ballantyne... ? ![]() |

Very nice area, pretty, nice neighborhoods, easy access to freeways, new schools, good shopping, moderate to high price point

Beautiful. We were lucky enough to stay in my husband's corporate condo in Ballantyne for two months when we were relocated here earlier this year and we really enjoyed it. It is very safe; safe enough for a woman to walk her dog at dusk and not feel unsafe. Great restaurants and shops and really easy access to 485 make Ballantyne a great choice.

I don't live in Ballantyne, but I go there all the time.
I LOVE the area. 4th only to Uptown, Myers Park and my neighborhood of course in Charlotte, lol. |

I have lived here two weeks and live in Bally. Bally is gorgeous, next door to great shopping, plenty of restaurants, and considered an affluent area.

I noticed if you turned right off the exit instead of going left into Ballantyne the neighborhood kind of changed quickly. I am talking about past Earthfare maybe 5 mins. from the "center" of Ballantyne.
I think Charlotte is like that everywhere though. It is just different then what I am use to. Anyways, if we stay in the charlotte area we would definitely like to be closer to Ballantyne since it is considered more upscale. However, after awhile I am wondering if the charm will wear off since it is so small. It is kind of like a small suburban city if you haven't visited yet. I think it is a great idea b/c we have found not to many people go into the center of Charlotte to go out for the night except for the college students. Again, different then what we are us to coming from a big city like Philly. They do have big plans to expand the city though in terms of entertainment and food which is great! |
