I like to say I live in the Mallard Creek area (I'm off Prosperity Church Rd). This is the area (I feel) to the West of 85 and the east of Eastfield Road.

As for schools, check the free and reduced meals stats.

I would also suggest the Cabarrus side of Highland Creek, if you like it there. Commute would be shorter. Taxes are less.

That is what I am saying. But highland creek is not an area with cheap housing near campus so the petty crime is not something this person would have to worry about.

I've lived in the University area and near Mint Hill and I prefer Mint Hill. The town is just nicer in general and the people I encounter are as well. There are lots of nice houses around for under 300K there, too.
