Does anybody know if supermarkets in the Steele Creek area offer home delivery for groceries?

I have looked at Harris Teeter and Wal-Mart web sites and they do not seem to offer this.

It would seem that if you order products online, you then need to get in your car and go and collect your stuff. This seems odd to me. I would be happy to pay $5-1$10 to have my groceries delivered to my door. However it would seem that this is not a service that is offered locally.

Any ideas?

Teeter used to have home delivery (in NOVA at least) but I guess they weren't making enough money on it. Picking up groceries in the express lane still saves some time, especially if you have snotty little monsters to haul around the store.

Nah, no snotties. Ours is 28 and 6' 2" when fully extended...

In both Switzerland and in the UK this service is widespread. I guess that the huge areas serviced by supermarkets here makes this not economic for them.

We have found such services useful when the weather is poor or one of us is unwell and we cannot/don't want to shop.

For us there is no real problem getting to stores today, but with increasing dodderiness, one never knows.

The Harris Teeter site says they do not offer home delivery - where did you find that info?

Oops, n/m - In one part of their site, they say "no home deliveries"
http://www.harristeeter.com/other/he...opping.aspx#q7

and in another, they have those zip codes listed.

I guess since people tend to walk more in more places in the UK, the service is popular there. In the US, people mainly only walk in the larger cities or for exercise.

Or malls.
