I am looking for a good, small and warm and fuzzy middle school (does this really exist!) near the huntersville area. my son has processing and anxiety issues and will be eaten up in a traditional middle school environment.... any good suggestions?

you may want to look into the charter schools in the area. Southwestern Region

Lake Norman Charter has grades 5-8; Lincoln Charter has grades k-12. Pine Lake Prep is working on their school (Welcome to Pine Lake Preparatory!) and hopes to have k-11 next school year.

Though my son didn't start LCS until High School, he quickly found a comfortable "home" at this school. At the time, they were still developing their High School program and the math program had not fully developed. He didn't want to be held back by this so he championed for a pre-Calculus/Calculus class. By the end of his first year, he reluctantly told me, "I hope they get the math classes figured out, because, I kind of like it at this school." They did form the Calculus classes he was looking for and we're all very pleased.
