There's a good chance I'll land a job at CMC Charlotte within 2 the next 2 months. I'm single with no kids. I'm looking for 1 bedroom /1 bathroom (although an extra room would be nice) with a rent around $700-$800 and a commute of no more than 30 min (20 would be preferable). Area wise, I'm not really picky. As long as car vandalism or apartment break-ins are not common, I'll consider it. I'll be renting for the first 6-12 months. If everything goes well after that, I'd be looking into buying something. I have some money set aside for a future house down payment. Then, my priorities will be different. Any advice will be appreciated.
PS I've been told many people that work in Charlotte live in Rock Hill, SC so that could be an alternative too.

What?? Well, I'm sure some people probably do live in Rock Hill and commute to CMC, but there is certainly no need to go THAT far out. And you sure won't get a 20-30 minute commute during rush hour
If our OP shows back up (first time posters often never do) I'll send them a few links to places much closer to CMC

I agree with Loves. You'd be hard pressed to make it to South Charlotte in 30 minutes during rush hour. There are a number of nice apartment complexes very near to CMC Main. Look along East Boulevard as well as on Scott & Kennilworth. Selwyn Ave also has some nice apartments & townhouses. I don't know what they rent for though. Good luck with your search.

I'm assuming the OP is talking about CMC in midtown, not CMC off Tryon in the University area.
It'll be hard to find any 2 BR apartments for that price, but you might get something on the east side or west side. I'd suggest budgeting at least $900 if you definately want a 2 BR.
Charlotte has pretty good public transportation for a N.C. city. If you locate something farther south on Park Road, the gas savings may help offset the cost. There are some apartment complexes just south of Woodlawn on Park Rd, which may work.
