Default Best neighborhoods of Charlotte for young, active retirees

I am helping my parents scope out potential places to move. They are young (60) and active (walking, socializing with friends).

From my short business trips to the Charlotte area, it seems to be a real up and coming, beautiful, friendly place. Can anyone recommend neighborhoods/zip codes that have:

- good amount of green space
- easy access to a city or town "center" (shops, restaurants)
- property tax less than 2%
- 3-4 bedrooms for $300,000-$600,000

Many thanks!

Sun City Carolina Lakes is a new active adult community. 5 minutes to Ballantyne, but just over the state line in SC so taxes are lower. Plus retirees get a special property tax reduction. Lots to do. Here's a link:

I agree with previous poster. My parents moved into Sun City Carolina Lakes in March and love it there.

Sun City is fine if they like that... but if they want a community of people, not just old people, send them to the SouthPark area-- great homes in the heart of S Charlotte. It sounds like they are looking for a "pre-retirement" place.

Plus the area is apprectiationg strong! Won't go wrong there.

pm me for more.
