Anyone have feedback (positive or negative) on the community Somerset in Union county? I really like the neighborhood but looking for some more info on the community.

Thanks!

I think it's a great community...right on the border of South Charlotte and Union County, and near several shopping areas. Sold prices for last 6 months ranged from $270K-$445K, with current list prices from $269K-$465K. Schools are Rea View Elementary, Marvin Ridge Middle and High. I have kids at Rea View and MR Middle...so far so good as they are new schools.

I live in Hunter Oaks right across from Somerset and looked there too when we were buying. I love the convenient location to everywhere - that's the best thing about it. We just opted for Hunter Oaks because the house we liked happened to be there. Our house backs up to Tom Short Rd - if you are looking at the one on Belvedere, you will need to plant some evergreens - it is louder than we thought. Further in the development is quieter and I liked that it was a smaller community than Hunter Oaks. The new school is wonderful, and it basically services only a few developments, so it is like a neighborhood school. The kids love being able to just run over to their friends houses too. Tons of kids around! We looked at new construction too, but didn't want the construction traffic and there is something to be said for knowing exactly what you are getting. The only black spot is the Walmart issue - which is hopefully going away. If you are not familiar, there was supposed to be a Walmart right on the corner of Rea and Tom Short. Somerset and Hunter Oaks and others fought it bitterly for years and judges finally ruled it out. My guess is that a small open mall will end up there with coffee shops/salon, etc. That was the original plan. With new construction, who knows what will go up around the corner... Just my opinion of course, but I like Somerset...Good luck with your home search!
