Their website probably isn't the best, but I took advice from someone on this site a few years ago and have been going their ever since. For the $ it's the best quality and deal in town. I've been to the Portrait Innovations and the other place was in Carolina Place Mall with the kid and the digital camera and after it was said and done they wanted like $500 for the package or some pics and a CD. They just didn't make the cut for me.

I have a friend who is in town this summer from Florence, Italy. He is a fine artist and is earning money by painting oil portraits and doing sketches.

If you want a fine portrait, I'd suggest you contact this guy. You won't find anyone doing work like this at his price, I promise you. He is accustomed to working in Florence where people won't pay anything because artists there are a dime a dozen. He is classically trained and a respected artist who has had showings at respected galleries internationally. He also does masterpiece copies and the quality of his work is phenonmenal.

If anyone is interested DM me for his name and number. You can find plenty of his paintings with a quick google search. I promise you won't be disappointed.

He is doing a portrait for me right now, my daughter had her first sitting yesterday.

Edit to add: his price for a single portrait is probably less than many photographers fees...

This might sound unclassy, but for a basic inside shot with kids...Portrait inovations. (not at the mall, the one near providence rd) You can not beat $9.95 for one pose in which they give you a gazillion copies of it. They try to get you on wanting more poses, but if you stick to your guns and pick the best one, you can't go wrong. I have a phenominal picture of my 3 kids, wearing matching white tops, basic white background, everyone LOVES this pic. I have done professional, expensive photos too, and have professional photographer friends(not in charlotte)...its really hard to beat $9.95. If you want ouside shots, thats a whole different option, and others have given their suggestions. If you want really good photos and want to pay the price, you could try couture portraits, they are located in ballantyne and I have had friends use them and they like them.
