I am a Registered Nurse and I am thinking about relocating to Charlotte NC. As the cost of housing in Ca is too high.
What is nursing like in NC, is this a good area to live and work?
What is the school system like as i have a eight year old son?

looking forward for your reply

What kind of nursing do you prefer to do? We have many hospitals to choose from. I can't tell you about salaries, but I believe this is a very competitive market for good experienced nurses.

I am presently working in a hospital setting. I am working on a telemetry unit and I also work in a bithing unit. I have twelve years of nursing experience.

Which is the better area to live east Charlotte or South Charlotte.

South Charlotte is the most desirable, other than areas north of the city on the lake. East Charlotte has some good areas, but also too many rough ones.

Several of our hospitals offer wonderful new birthing facilities. I would check out Presbyterian Hospital - Main (which is the big one uptown), but also Carolinas Medical Center - Mercy (in the town of Pineville, next to south Charlotte).

hi...I am also a nurse, from California--born and raised... where are you moving from?

I can't speak to Charlotte too much, I live in the Lake Norman area (Mooresville to be exact) you might want to look at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville, essentially a new one, less then a few years old... also Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville. Pay is going to be less then in Cali, but so is your housing and cost of living.

I love the Iredell-Statesville schools, but again, that's what I picked for my kids...

I do have my N.C. nursing license, but am no longer working as a nurse. GREAT profession, I miss it a lot...

Let me know if you need any other information!

Hospice nurses are extremely scarce. If you have any hospice experience, you should be set.

i think if you have a 4 year nursing degree you will have a nice pick of jobs with decent salaries! i do have a friend of the family that was a icu nurse in NY for many years with a 2 year degree and she couldn't get a nursing job here because she only had a 2 year degree. she went into something else rather than completing the degree at her age. good luck!

I will be moving from Vallejo CA. Just one question, Is there a shortage of nurses in NC.
What is the job market like. How soon do you think I need to speak to a recruiter since I am planning to move next summer.
