I am planning my wedding & haven't quite decide what I want to do yet. I still have 2 more venues to look at. My wedding will be either June or July of 2013. I have also considered doing a destination wedding to either Jamaica or a Cruise. There will be children so it has to be kid friendly. I am on a budget of 15-20k. Any suggestions on resorts or cruise line is greatly appreciated. Also need a great Travel Agent in Charlotte to work with

Have you ever thought about a wedding planner that is familiar with destination weddings?

Karen Clark is awesome, she is based out of Raleigh, but she has no problem planning in Charlotte.

Check out the Knot's website and forum. They have a board dedicated to destination weddings. Good luck with your planning!

If you don't want to pay for it, I have two relatives that went about it themselves, looked up hotels in the region they wished to get married in and worked at the resort with their wedding specialist. It really wasn't that difficult. So you could check out tripadvisor for great family hotels that have wedding services and go from there. My brother eloped on a cruise, you would call the cruise to do that, and it is not very difficult either. This would help you stay in budget than paying for a 3rd party to do what you can do online. There are a ton of destination wedding forums too I would guess.

I had a destination wedding, and didn't use an agent except to arrange the flights down to the resort. These types of weddings are so popular now that the resorts have their own people who work their that set everything up for you. I am 100% positive that if you're interested in doing something at a Sandals resort or somewhere similar that you can do it yourself with minimal hassle.

don't do a cruise...we went on one for our honeymoon and did not like it. I agree with other posters, do a sandals or simlar resort where they have everything included and its all in one place. When we did the cruise I felt like all you got to do was sit in a stinky boat with a ton of other people and the rush on and off a beautiful island, in which all you saw was the touristy part of the island. Also, someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think June/July you are in hurricanse season so you may want to consider a location that is out of that belt like the ABC islands.

I got married in the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma in October which is the tail end of hurricane season. It's hard to hear in my video because of all the wind

wow...our cruise was after some huge hurricane down in the carribean and we couldn't even stop in one of the ports it was so destroyed and St. Marteen was a disaster zone. My husband also ended up with the ship sickness and was quarentened(sp?) to the boat for 2 days...we so wish we went to Aruba

Thanks everyone. It sounds like a all inclusive resort would be a better choice but then again June/July is a bad month b/c of hurricane season. I want to make sure most of my family members will be able to attend including kids (the reasons why I chose those months b/c they will be out of school). I have families in San Diego. Maybe I'll consider a cruise/resort for our honeymoon...
