Will it be worth the drive Uptown? If you got kids it might be.

"The Mint Museum, Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and Harvey B. Gantt Center will allow visitors in for free during the CarolinaFest 2012 kickoff event for the Democratic National Convention on Labor Day.
Discovery Place and the NASCAR Hall of Fame will offer half-price admission during the Sept. 3 celebrations. And entry to The Levine Museum of the New South will be $5."

I don't planning on going uptown at that time, free or not, but I hope folks closer in -- as well as visitors -- will take advantage of this wonderful offer. We have some very interesting museums and it would be nice for people to become more familiar with their offerings.
