I don't have a recommendation for a company but one suggestion I do have is to make sure they are sending people who are able to lift the items you have. We had a problem because one of the movers was not able to pick most things up and it took 3 times as long as it should have to move and I had to help. We had a very bad experience.

When we moved from South Charlotte to Fort Mill in 2007, we were charged an extra interstate fee. I don't know if this is just for national movers (United Van Lines e.g.) or that is standard. Regardless of how close your move is, just be aware that this might be included by law.

We used Sawyers Moving Company for a recent move and couldn't be happier. They were very attentive prior to the move and then on the day of the move the team they sent were excellent. They were efficient and careful and moved quickly even though it was over 100 degrees that day. We would definitely recommend them!

I haven't received my quote yet but I will have them by next week from Easy Movers and Gentle Giants to get an idea of the cost. Thanks everyone for the advice.
