This is the last year of the present system. Next year, instead of pass/fail, the schools will be graded on a scale of A - F. This year's scores won't make the websites that allow comparisons until next spring.
Hopefully, all of the districts improved. How did the individual districts do? Any comments on the districts or schools?

Just a reminder that average test results reflect student demographics and is not always indicative of quality especially at the high school level where students are tracked.

The pass/fail system depended on the demographics. It was unfair. If a school with 21 demographics had the same scores as a school with 2 demographics, if 1 of the 21 demographics failed the whole school failed.

You are right, as a former teacher, I would like to add that it is all contengent on the motivation of the student and the parental support and involvement. Money, lap-top computers, and general state-of-the-art surroundings mean nothing if students don't put forth effort and get motivation from their peers and parents. In many cases, all of this expensive equipment just sits around barely used. In short, a student that wants to learn can learn as easily in a one room classroom with the basic neccessities as he/she can in an ultra-modern, over equipped showcase of a room.
I hope that the students can achieve goals of graduation and the attainment of above average scores without dumbing down curriculum and testing procedures or some administrations passing out diplomas for the sake of superficially looking good. I have seen it all.

I understand your concerns. The state is making the switch to a new system because they got a federal waiver. I think that the grading system for the school is better than the pass/fail.
I started this thread because of the lag between when the scores are released & when they show up on the school websites. I think that it's especially important this year because of the problems last year.
