Well there is plenty to do. And only a couple of hours between the mountains and the ocean.

In Lancaster County, SC (a suburban county south of Charlotte) there is a new Sun City retirement community that is highly touted.

My parents house in Sun City is going to be completed in the first quarter of 2007 -- you should definitely take a look there. It is most certainly for active seniors. Let me know if you would like any more information -- I think my parents have turned into a marketing machine for this community -- they can't wait until their house is done. (The downside is they are on a long delay to build because there has been so much interest...)

My in-laws were also looking at Sun City to retire. They went to visit the area this past spring and were very impressed. I know that there is another place located in Charlotte. I think it is called The Landing. It was near WT Harris Blvd. They were more reasonably priced at around $100,000 where as SunCity was closer to if not over $200,000.

Yes, there are other options -- my guess is that given the response to Sun City there will be many more in the future
