Thank you Sunny for the post, good news for the area!

Sad to see that bad news always get lots of replies and most good news are ignored...

I am guessing this is the NGK company that makes spark plugs.

Your welcome. Sometimes job threads there not much to add lol. Despite people views of the governor she has allowed funds that are match or exceeded within local goverments to attract new industry. It just unfortunate the net loss of jobs exceeds net gain of jobs which take time like everything to make the economy of this state thrive again.

NGK Ceramics supplies automobile and heavy duty diesel manufacturers with high-performance precision ceramic components for diesel and gasoline engine emission control systems. supplies automobile and heavy duty diesel manufacturers with high-performance precision ceramic components for diesel and gasoline engine emission control systems.

Here is the history of the company. NGK Automotive Ceramics U.S.A., Inc.

The NGK in Mooresville makes catalytic converter substartes. They are highly porous ceramic pieces that are extruded, they then get coated with other ceramics and precious metals to finally end up in a catalytic converter. In NC they make only the ceramic filter portion.

From their website "NGK Ceramics USA, which makes ceramic filters for auto engines, announced Tuesday it will invest $93 million to expand its Mooresville plant..."

This is a substrate for automotive:

this is what is used in diesel trucks(they are larger and can be made of different materials and sometimes have to be made in smaller pieces and "glued" together):

It is a growing business they make great parts and have great quality. Their biggest competitor in the USA is Corning.

I had visited the plant years ago, in Mooresville. They are a well run company!!

Yes they make spark plugs but not here in NC. They make all sorts of ceramic engine components through NGK Japan.
It is great they are expanding!

This is a good company and one that is truly expanding without demanding huge taxpayer welfare as a condition. I hope we see more of this.
