Curious if anybody has seen lard that is not hydrogenated.

I looked at armour lard and put it back on the shelf.

I am looking for lard that has not been infused with hydrogen, this means chances are it will be in the cooler and not on a grocery shelf.

I've seen it at Harris Teeter, Earth Fare (I think), and Bi-Lo or Food Lion, although I've never seen it refrigerated which probably means it's hydrogenated and/or full of preservatives.

This sometimes means pie crusts with lard and NOT Crisco/shortening.

I can't believe I can not find Lard anywhere in the Charlotte area. None of the Harris Teeters carry it and Food Lion caters to a blue collar/immigrant clientele and offers it only through special order.

Does anyone know where I can get Lard? In New Jersey it was in packages next to the butter in the fridge.

I dare not even ask about Limburger cheese, or rennet tablets or a bunch of other stuff I have to order online because no local market carries them.

Seems like people with million dollar homes and six-figure kitchens do little cooking around here!

If anyone knows a source for lard please do tell??
Everyone has focused on the Lard in their responses, but I have personally purchased Limburger cheese in Earthfare. It wasn't for me, but for a friend from Germany who told me the "Stinkier the cheese, the better" I had to put it in my trunk on the ride up to deliver it.
