Carowinds is located in southwest Charlotte. It actually has the state line running right through it so part of it is in South Carolina too. It is not Disney, but it is a lot of fun. I particularly like the water park myself - but the roller coasters are very popular. You can easily spend a whole day there. Depending on where in WNC you are the trip would be 3 or more hours for you.

It appears that Carowinds and Six Flags are similar. Some people tell me that Carowinds is more impressive than Six Flags. My wife and I cant wait to experience the water park at Carowinds. We do enjoy the rides, but the water park can be a blast!! I believe it is a great location, and it attracts huge business.
