A good starting point would be Cars and Coffee, Charlotte. It is not un Union County, it's in Mecklenburg County at the NC Music Factory on the 1st Saturday morning of each month.

Check out this link Cars and Coffee Charlotte to get more information.

There's obviously the Lowe's Motor Speedway and Z-Max too.

While looking for a bookmark I thought I had, I found these sites, and many more:

Event Coverage « Cruisin Carolina Magazine

NC - North Carolina Car Shows - North Carolina Automobile Show Calendar - North Carolina Auto Events Schedule

North Carolina Car Shows

Look up South 21 cruise-in and Crown Point cruise-in.

Except for tomorrow. It's been postponed until 9/8 due to the DNC.

Check out cruisin carolina magazine for events... That said there are some good events not far from you.

South 21 Cruisin on Fridays on highway 74 is well attended.

The biggest now is at the NC Music Factory for Cars and Coffee.

Last Friday was the largest turnout I've seen. I left at 6:30, the main lot was full, the surrounding lots were beginning to fill, and cars were coming in steadily.
