You are absolutely correct. That IS how it works.

However, Dubs has served on state bar association committees and also taught . . . worked at the state level, too, I believe. She is well connected.

It is always easiest (driving time for record searches and filings) to use an attorney in the county where you live. But sometimes, finding the right personality to represent your case might necessitate going outside the area.

But yes, I do agree with you that the best general advice on selecting an attorney is to find one in your county who has established relationships with the DAs office, court clerk, police force, private detectives, etc.
