I am transporting all of my elderly neighbors to the voting polls to ensure that they are counted if their choice for President is the same as mine. Most of the educated/intelligent elderly that are in my neighborhood do not trust absentee ballots. They mysteriously disappeared when Gore and Obama were running. Miitary traditionally vote 80% or more republican in support of military, etc. It is amazing that all of a sudden, there is a small percentage of military members overseas voting via absentee ballots since the days of Gore. When I was an army Lt., I was the voting officer and 100% of my company had to be personally be given an absentee ballot, and I had to explain how to use it and collect them for submission with a deadline. It was a big deal. That has changed obviously. I suppose that certain insecure individuals feel that it is better to let GIs vote and not count them than to let them vote for the principles for which they have volunteered and have been sworn to protect?
I don't feel anyone would think that residents in my semi-upscale neighborhood are lame enough to have to be registered by some precarious looking individual.
The police and other city officials do transport people to the polls in Chicago, too. Vote early & vote often!! Same terms as yours, Bindi!
Your spouse is deceased? No problem. Vote for him/her too!! After all, they were a taxpaying citizen, right?
It's how "elections" are won!

These same people could be casing your neighborhood and your house. Knock. No answer. Let your buddies know. Next thing you know, your house has been burglarized. When people walk through your neighborhood, be alert. Call the cops and our LEOs are more than happy to check the credentials of those knocking on your door.
Great thought. I would allow my dogs to answer the door if someone came to my door!
But anyway, it appears that Obama is the only candidate encouraging registering online, although you can really only do it from a smartphone or tablet (because you have to sign).
Thats not true. I registered to vote at rockthevote.com. You just answer a few questions, print out the completed form, and mail it in. No postage necessary. Less then a week after mailing it in, I received in the mail confirmation that I was registered to vote.
Granted it doesn't actually complete the registration online, but I didn't think any of the websites did that. And dropping the completed form in the mail is a lot easier then having to go to the DMV or stop by the library and get a form.
I have been getting these emails frequent to volunteer register people to vote and was asked when I went to pick up some stickers (I save them for collection for a ebay sale decades later).
Anyways I told the guy Ill think about it as a polite way of saying no lol. I dont mind setting up a table at entrance of a big box store but I find door to door people annoying no matter who it is.
According to NC board of Elections at this moment of registered voters
By the way for those who have relocated here and have not registered the last day is this coming Saturday.
Early voting starts on the 18th and ends Saturday before election.

I heard that the Republican party is sending people from Alabama to the battleground states to knock on the doors of independent voters. I'm registered unafiliated. I won't be answering my door.
It is really best for candidate volunteers to drop the literature and keep moving, in my opinion. Ringing the doorbell risks interrupting people when on the phone or watching TV, it wakes up dogs and babies, etc.
I think a large part of the reason "unaffiliated" is the fastest growing group is because people see little point in registering with a party. You only need to be registered if you want to vote at the party conventions, and turnout for those is miniscule. If you are registered and they get your phone number, then you'll be hounded regularly for party donations.
Does anybody else find it sad that people go door to door to encourage people to exercise their constitutional right? If you are too lazy to leave your house and register and must wait for someone to knock on it, you probably should be voting anyway.
And before someone responds about people who are medically challenged, they can easily call the county board of elections, and they will get them squared away.

It is very sad.
In 1990, the big election in NC was for the senator seat. The seat was held by the 60s segregationist Jessie Helms who was running against Charlotte's first Black mayor, Harvey Gantt. As you can imagine this was a very nasty race that culminated in a race baiting TV advert by Helms showing a White man not getting a job because government made them hand it to a Black man instead. This race was being watched nationally because of the issues.
By coincidence I happened to be staying in Raleigh on business the night of the election and at hotel where Harvey Gantt had his election HQ. So as you can imagine the place was full of reporters, party officials, etc, so I decided to go downstairs to see the events. Somehow I let the Democrats corral me into riding on a bus to Durham to go knock on doors in a housing project to get people to go and vote for Gantt. Chalk this up to being young and stupid as this is something I'll never do again. I don't think one person was convinced to leave their home to go and vote. Complete waste of my time and believe me when I tell you that a White boy in a suit knocking on doors in a government housing complex is not met with cheerful greetings and wishes of good tidings.
IMO people deserve the government they vote for.
These days, I don't associate with any party. My opinion is if you want to do this country a favor vote for anyone who isn't affiliated with either of the major parties. I'm tired of voting of the lesser of two evils and have decide that I'm not voting for evil at all.
Oh and Helms won the election.
