Hi everyone.
Considering a move to the Charlotte area...specifically Union County. On our last visit, we met families in Union County...very few were from NC. Just wondering where everyone is from originally??

I have a hard time with saying "where I'm from" because I consider a lot of answers. Born in Los Angeles, childhood through college in Decatur, Lilburn and finally Athens, GA. Early adulthood in Washington, DC.

But for the past 8 years, Charlotte has been my home. I think at 10 I get an honorary "Almost a Charlottean" pin.

I'm in Union County, and that certainly is the case. I know a few locals, but most are from NY/NJ. I am from RI, but I moved here from MA.

Yeah, mixed bag for me too. I'm a hybrid transplanter.

Born in east TN, lived there as a toddler. Parents took me to in Michigan during my preschool years, that affected my speech patterns enough to for other kids here to ask "Where are you from?" all through elementary school in NC. Lived in Charlotte for about 5 months of 1974, then moved elsewhere in NC. Public education in NC, and went to NC State.

Worked out west for a decade of the 1990s, then returned and lived in Charlotte since the 2000s.

I was born in South Bend, IN and then moved to the DC area and then down here. Our neighborhood is chalk full of people from Long Island though. One couple moved down and then 2 or 3 other couples plus another friend all moved down as well.

I've always said... Vinyl siding is a siren song to Yankees. If you want to hang with New Yorkers just drive away from the city until you run into the treeless neighborhoods stacked on top of one another like a deck of plastic playing cards, knock on any random door and introduce yourself to someone from Buffalo!

I don't pretend to understand.
