Does anyone know when Kensington Road in Waxhaw (near Cureton) is going to reopen? They originally said it would only be closed for one month. Wondering what's going on.
Check the town of Waxhaw's FB page. They wrote about it this week to update the public. If I recall correctly (and I might not), I believe the issue is that they've discovered some issues under the roads that need fixing in order to comply with state regulations. It sounds like there's a lot of red tape getting the fixes approved, but it is going to happen, just slowly.
That's too bad. I'll check out the Waxhaw page. I'm afraid someone's going to get killed making a left turn from Gray Byrum (detour) on to Providence. Very challenging at times.
There are a few issues that need to be resolved still on Kensington RD, currently owned by Wells Fargo. After using an underground storm water camera the town discovered an issue with one of the drain pipes that runs under the road. There has been a request that the bank clear the areas surrounding the remaining pipes so they can be viewed as well. Because there is a concern about the first pipe having a potential collapsing issue, I am sure there will be a thorough inspection of all these drain pipes.
Thanks of the info GoodLife. Definitely happy that the bank has requested further investigation. I can deal with the minute or two of driving out of the way if it ensures that my family and everyone else's is a little safer.
