The sweepstakes parlors become illegal December 1st. They are already illegal in Gaston County.

That's interesting. A guy from Kings Mountain had some in Gaston County & was arrested along with an employee or two.

LOL, load the machines in a truck, along with a generator? A moving target is hard to hit.

a friend of mine is waiting for one to close in downtown KM, as she is wanting to open a small bakery in that spot. You may know where I am talking about.

There are dubbed "internet cafes", or "lucky sweepstakes" or maybe "phone card sweepstakes". They sit in a lot of the back rooms of convenience stores etc...

The machines are everywhere. They look suspiciously like video poker & in fact are a way to get around video poker being illegal. Some places will have 2 or 3 machines & then there are the sweepstakes parlors (& a couple of other code names are used)

Here's an article that I found online. It's from Greensboro, but prettty well summed things up at the time that it was written.

Sweepstakes machines are spreading : News-Record.com : Greensboro & the Triad's most trusted source for local news and analysis (http://www.news-record.com/content/2009/09/05/article/sweepstakes_machines_are_spreading - broken link)
