My guys and I went to the movies last night, and saw a feral kitty in the parking lot. It was too wild to let us get close, but it was very hungry. We tried to lure it with pieces of hotdog, and it would come grab the meat (or meat-like product) and run away. Does anyone know where we might rent or borrow a humane trap that we could set there? I've contacted Friends of Feral Felines; their message said it might be 48 hours before anyone called back. Do vets rent or loan humane traps? Any ideas?
We're going to tame it, get it checked over by a vet, and if it works out with our other kitties & dog, keep it.
If it's truly feral that may be quite a challenge. But good for you for trying.
I had two cats fixed by FOFF a couple years ago. I've forgotten the woman with whom I worked, but I know that Miller Animal Hospital on Monroe Road refers directly to her. She keeps the traps and cages at her home off Sharon Amity. You may want to call them and get her info.

I've tamed several feral kitties. Most grew to love being part of a family, a couple always seemed to have some wanderlust. At least they were neutered. It takes a lot of time, which, since my surgery, I have a lot.

At one time you could use traps from the animal shelter for free. You might check there first. As already said the small traps used for cats are not expensive and worth the price. Our last cat was a feral kitten and it took about a week for her to start getting use to humans and our other cats. Good luck
