Start checking out Craig's List for room to rent situations. You might be surprised at your options.

My husband did that 2 years ago and ended up paying $400 for a huge bedroom and private bath in a townhouse. Turned out the owner was never there - traveled for work and stayed with a girlfriend when he was around, so my husband had the place to himself most of the time, and the full use of the kitchen and washer/dryer

I agree with Loves on the Matthews location. I live on this side of town on Monroe and the Matthews 27 goes by cpcc on the way downtown. Not sure how you would get to the Cracker Barrel from the bus but you can always get a bike and all the buses have bike racks on the front.

There are tons of apartments in this area too.. not sure about the cost or safety but I'm sure they are cheaper than an extended stay. I've never heard of an extended stay that was cheaper than an apartment.... look for a studio apt. if you don't need space.

Yes please listen to lovesmountains advice You DO NOT want to live alone on N Tryon Street. I was uncomfortabe driving on it alone, I am a 32 year old female. Matthews is much safer for a single girl living on her own. It will all work out, it may be tough at first but you will get everything figured out.

I will take the advice. Thank you so much. I found an apartment in Indian Trail that I am very interested in. It's called "The Meridian" they are very nice apartments and I used to live right down the street from there. I will still look in Matthews. Again thank you so much. It feels really good to know that I can come here and get good advice without being flamed. have a good one everyone!

Personally , I wouldn't rent a room with someone if I were in your shoes. Your best bet would be to find secondary employment prior to relocating. There is a company I know of that is hiring , I'll send the info. Also , there is an extended stay in the Steele Creek area that is eons better than the aforementioned places. Also , a local realtor has an apartment block downtown with one bedrooms starting at $450 USD.

There is also a Cracker Barrel on Carowinds Blvd across from Carowinds. That is technically in SC but close enough to Charlotte and may open up more options.
