The website that the place im going to says its 2 miles form cpcc. The cracker barrel is 10 miles. Plus I could ride public transportation to work and school till I can afford a car. I have already talked to friends. The manager of the place im going to is an ex cop. So I think I have checked everything out. So why does my plan need tweaking?

I will try the Matthews location there is another one of the extended stays there if I cant find an apartment. Plus I really dont want an apartment. I like the extended stay. I have looked into apartments and they are much more expensive then the extended stay. I don't want a huge place anyway.
There is just no way an extended stay hotel is cheaper than an apt unless it is in the 'hood and very unsafe.
The apartments I have found want me to make $1500 and I dont make that. I told them what I make and they said im still to low. This is my only option.
Then you haven't "found" enough apts. You can get in something close to the Cracker Barrel in Matthews for around $600.
Of the 3 extended stay addresses you sent me there are issues with each.
First of all, NONE of them are anywhere near CPCC. The one on N. Tryon is 2 miles from the university, NOT CPCC.
The one on Independence Blvd would be safest, but I highly doubt there's a bus stop anywhere near it. And while it is closest to the Matthews job location it's not within walking distance of much else (groceries, drug stores, etc).
Albemarle Rd is the 'hood. I'm glad people you know had good experiences there, but I would not suggest you press your luck.

Do you still have friends here? Someone you could room with? Doing that would be more affordable.
Also, more affordable than an extended stay or apt would be to just rent a room. There are lots of people renting out rooms these days.
Yes I have friends but they all stay with family and there is no room.
