I understand what you're saying, but it seems as though serious crime is occurring with greater and greater frequency.
Is crime an epidemic in Charlotte? No. But for as much as Charlotte has going for it, it has against it: crime and taxes and schools - if not in reality, in perception, to some.
Some of the better areas in Charlotte have a fair degree of competition from it's York and Union County neighbors.
You don't want to siphon off the productive class of Charlotteans to outlying areas.
Be careful what you say about north west charlotte or your post will disappear .
