I called one company, got a quote of $2.50 per mile, but forgot to ask the avg travel time. Outbound would be about 3'ish on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, return about 3'ish on that Sunday. Is it hard to get a taxi from the Charlotte Transportation Center? And, is that the centralized rail or bus station for Charlotte, public transit? Thanks!!!

The trip is just about 5 miles and should take under 15 minutes, depending on time of day. On Sunday the trip will be very quick

It is not usually too hard to get a taxi in uptown during the week, or at the airport, though it might be harder on a Sunday in uptown.

Im curious why the transportation center your point of drop off? Catching a ride on Mega bus?

There is a bus that goes from Airport to Transportation center(The Sprinter bus #5) and that pretty much all it does except one stop between the two it runs about every 30 minutes and the trip is 25 minutes
Same for Sundays
$2.00 fare each way

If you do get a cab and have a mobile just save the number and call upon arrival but by the time comes you could have road back on The Sprinter.

I recently had a flight and couldn't get picked up from the Airport. Take the bus... but I would check on holiday schedules first. I doubt they run every 30 minutes during holidays.

When the day is actual holiday CATS runs on a weekend schedule and since Sunday isnt a holiday but weekend.

I check and this route and only thing that seem to change is pickup/ drop off time but the bus seem to run same amount of time.

I spent $25 to go from 6th and Davidson to the airport 3 weeks ago. Cab ride was maybe 10 minutes? I'm 2 blocks from CTC.

Everyone, thank you so much!! I am considering having my teenaged son take the Megabus as SunnyKayak guessed. On Mapquest the route maps out to about 14 miles I think it was. I didn't know of the Sprinter Bus option so that is tremendously helpful v. taking a cab.

Does anyone know if the drop off point of the Sprinter Bus at the Transportation Center is close to where the Megabus picks up?? I'm guessing it can't be too far, a brisk walk? I'm not sure about the Transportation Center is it the same as a light rail or as we'd say in Chicago, an "el" train station.

Thanks Again!!!

I think the Sprinter stops at a Bay in the covered part of the transportation center. The Megabus pickup is on Brevard St. on the other side of the Burger King. The entire transportation center is just one square block, so it is very close. There is an information kiosk in the middle of the covered part of the center and he can ask a CATS employee there if he gets lost.

Take the bus if you are not pressed for time. It's cheaper and takes you straight to the Trans Center. I've done it and saved about $20 as I recall.
