My fiance and I will be graduating from college in December and will be relocating to Charlotte. What are the best areas for us to check out for an apartment? We'll be visiting in early November to look into this, but we don't even know which areas to look into. Thanks for the help!

It depends on where you will be working. Some of the Banks have offices in Charlotte uptown and in the outlying areas 10-15 miles from uptown. The university area is great because of its proximity to uptown and many young people live there near UNCC. Rents are fairly reasonable . You can go into any supermarket and there are magazines which have many rental units and they are organized by locations. Good Luck

Advice: Get jobs, then move.

Two reasons:

1. Many people have moved here without jobs and spent months looking for work. (See other threads in this forum.) This has put some people in bad financial shape. You and your finance don't need that!

2. The traffic here can be pretty bad in certain areas during the morning and evening commute. You'll probably want to live as close to your jobs as possible to avoid spending 8-10% of your day in your car!
