Getting freight unloaded in distribution centers is my profession. I'd tell you where to go to get a $10-$12 per hour rate, but the moderators might give the rookie another infraction. Wish I could help.

Thanks...the stuff I have to unload is pretty light anyway. I can do most if it on my own but there are a few large pieces (in size not weight) that will be difficult by myself. I have one person offer to help me for $20/hr and I may just take him up on his offer once I get the trailer in place at the storage center.

Thanks for all your comments. Hopefully when I move the business down from NJ I'll have an employee or two to help me set up the shop. SD

Thanks...ABF gives me 3 days to unload the trailer before they start charging storage charges. BTW....an 8'x9'x28' U-Pack trailer cost $1200 door to door from Northern NJ to Mooresville. A basic PODS unit (8'x8'x12') was $2250.

SS - I appreciate your offer. If you ever need advice setting up your garage or workshop, feel free to drop me a line. See Welcome to Ultimate Garage ....this is the business I am relocating to Mooresville because of more affordable commercial property and (I thought) a more suitable labor pool. In NJ, it seems most young guys coming out of college want to start at $50k+ year salary and don't want to get their hands dirty.

Whats surprising is so many people on this Charlotte list are complaining about not finding work. I offered to pay $15/hr cash for some help with light duty unloading (nothing weighs more than 80 lbs) yet the general consensus is I'd have to pay $25-45/hr to get someone to do this type of work. If my wife didn't have bilateral knee replacement, I'd get her to help. ........SD
