Yes, I actually didn't intend for 50 cent to be a pun either, but I guess it is.

At my daughter's place of employment, a well known Charlotte Non-Profit, employees can be disciplined, suspended and even fired for inappropriate and unprofessional dress.
I saw a youngster working at a Charlotte area K-Mart with his pants well below his hips. When he was called to the front to bag he hustled up the isle past me holding his pants up to keep them from dropping.
My wife and I volunteer to help new students move into their rooms at a local college. Quite a few male freshmen (of all ethnicities) wear the baggy style. Usually by the start of second semester most have transitioned to a more adult style for the ease of moving about campus. Rarely do we ever see any upper classmen wearing baggy pants.

Well...
I have a nephew...who wore his pants around his mid thighs at Thanksgiving....I caught him in the middle of the room with his dad, sisters, grandparents and all his family and jacked my bikini undies up and yanked my jeans down and walked across the room and played it out, asked if I could refill drinks...etc...well, I caught my nephew looking at me just shaking his head...
but at Christmas, he had a belt...
On the issue...I don't like the hanging pants look...I associate it with locking my car doors.

As the owner of TrashPants.com, I have a unique perspective on this topic. I supply an alternative to sagging pants that is becoming popular with both males AND females.
There are many clothing styles that I don't like; however, this is the only clothing style that government has stepped in to ban. If we start issuing fines to everyone I think looks bad - we can cover the government deficit.
As a society, we have lowered our standards related to women's attire so low that we basically encourage them to be half naked. Does sagging pants laws discriminate? Heck yes, but it isn't necessarily only racial discrimination. Gender rules allow string bikinis at public beaches - but, a young man can't show a piece of fabric sticking out the back of his fully clothed pants.
And as far as the racial issue. It is a racial issue to many people - we all look at life differently and what motivates each of us is not the same. (You) may not 'see color', but many people do. Just because your opinions are not motivated by racial predispositions, does not mean that others think as clearly as you do. (Kudos to you for your open-mindedness) Many people only took action to ban the style AFTER it started spreading to the suburbs and becoming multi-cultural.
When I was a teen - I wore my pants ripped at the knees with a bandana and a black T-shirt. My parents hated it. Growing up means exercising your right to creative self-expression. This is a fad. Who knows what style will come next. Hoop skirts and turtle necks for all? Believe it or not, the style actually IS comfortable.
Banning this style is a horrific example of how our leaders in elected positions lack the intellect and understanding of the true diversity found in our society. They are violating the civil rights and liberties of young americans and it IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL. It's also simply ignorance.
Let 'em Sag America - our forefathers fought and died for your right to just be you. Enjoy your rights.

Moderator cut: tos violation , why does everyone associate red and blue with gangs, and whats wrong with sagging your pants a little lower than everyone else, I wear tight stretch denim jeans and sag them a little bit, usually a little lower than the top of my butt. its just not comfortable to wear them where my boxers are

Exactly, as long as your privates are not showing and you are not going to fall over your clothes or cause an accident tripping over them, leave it alone.......there is more in this world that needs attention, like our darn gas prices, the poor economy, the Iraq war...to mention a few....ok come on...so their pants are down but not at their butt crack...my gosh.....dont' look

I just enjoy watching those guys with the sagging pants try to walk. At least they are entertaining. It's sad they think they look "cool" when infact it is more of a joke to many of us!! I'm thinking it's just another attention thing with some kids that lack that much needed attention! Just my personal opinion.

And any company has a right to enforce whatever dress codes they wish.
However, the idea of the government passing a law dictating how people can and cannot dress, just out in public, is stupid...pretty much as stupid as the whole "baggy pants" look.
I went through high school and most of college with the long hair, the ripped jeans, etc and remember people making similar comments about that look at the time. And I probably turned out to be more highly educated than most of those people who criticized my intelligence based on my style of dress.
If such a silly law actually passed, can I then propose a law stopping grossly overweight people from wearing tank-tops? because I find having to see that a lot more offensive than seeing someone's boxer shorts.
Actually, if this law passed - I would go right out and get a pair of baggy pants and walk downtown so I could court a citation and then sue the city (hey, I have a mortgage and student loans to pay).
