And I'm sure your parents said very similar things about the styles of people in your generation (whenever it may have been), whether it be tye-dyes and love beads, white disco suits with gold chains, or ripped jeans and t-shirts.

Hell - I see fashions from the 70's and 80's on TV every so often and think, those people looked stupid.

But the thing is - even though i wear a suit and tie to work (I'm now pushing 38) - I still, on my days off, wear torn jeans, rock the Iron Maiden t-shirts, go to punk shows and engage in a lot of the same behaviors and wear a lot of the same styles of clothes I did when people called me a "dumb kid".

That's okay for you---and who cares what people may call you? You do however show your respect when you are at work---Personally I don't care what anyone wears--I just find it funny when the guys in the saggy pants try to walk! Just my opinion! If that's what they want---fine by me!

There are different methods of sagging. Not all sagging involves pants that are falling off. If they are going to fine for sagging then they need to fine men for wearing jeans so tight that you can see their berries....

I doubt it will end up passing but if it did, it'd be the sweetest thing since no smoking ordinances started.
It has passed in many cities. I am sure that you know that it got its start by prisoners having to lose their belts and being handcuffed when being transported. Their pants sagged like they do in the fashion. It will be sweet if the law passes. As a former teacher, it was banned at my school, but I can assure you that 90 percent of the students that had previously wore their pants like that were behavioral problems.

I don't like seeing somebody's big fat @ss hanging out of their pants. I used to tell the students that if I have to look at somebody's underware, it better be someone prettier than you.

Laws are created to protect citizens from harm or embarrasment. I find the pants to be an embarrasment. If people should be able to wear what they want, I should be able to wear my underwear when I teach kids in the classroom, right? Not only would the kids puke over everything, I would be fired. Where is the fairness?

Wearing only underwear and wearing you pants to big doesn't compare. I think that it is really annoying that such a law would even be considered and I find it more annoying that people support it. Our society tends to think that because something is okay for one race (soft rock), it should be okay for everyone. That was just an example, but I once had a coworker ask me to turn my radio off because it was giving him a headache (R & B, not rap). He suggested that I listen to a station that we both could enjoy, he recommended a soft rock station. I told him that we need to just sit in silence because soft rock gives me a headache.

Banning sagging jeans does target a race, yes some white teens have begun sagging their jeans. But you know what they are called... I think that if the law is going to start dictating what fashion trends are acceptible and which are not. I would like to add several more to the ban...

1. Large people in spandex, halters, skinny jeans......
2. Excessively tight jeans that rest in the crack of the buttock
3. Tucking when your stomach is hanging over your pants

Just to name a few... I find all of those embarassing, why are they okay???? Probably because the law makers are committing those crimes.

the law is indecent exposure. as long as they are not exposing their front or back flesh, its not breaking the law. imho exposing your underwear, plenty do it, not just guys, is not sexy. its ugly and trashy. its not a turn on.
but letem figure that out on their own. the pain and humiliation of being seen foolish is a much better teacher. the face of the audience never lies.
