PO have very little training in firearm accuracy couple weeks in the academy, qualify ever 6 months. Most cops will go years with the gun in their holster and never pull it much less shot it. It is a fallacy to think cops are good shots because they are cops

Actually I never stated anything about the officer's training for accuracy with a rifle, handgun or any other firearm, but since you mentioned it..... it would seem the qualifications you have stated for a police officer are many times greater than the average citizen who may or may not have purchased a firearm and thought he/she could use it for self defense in the middle of the night in a split second against an intruder that is quite possibly well versed in the action he/she is committing.
See the way fallacies get started? Jump to a conclusion without seeing where you will land is never a great..... ah, er, oh..... jumping off place!

So what was your point when you said this? If you weren't commenting on his accuracy, then what were you commenting on? Also, he didn't even quote your post so maybe he wasn't responding to you. Seems to me that you jumped to a conclusion as well.

I had not really noticed that the article referred to homicide detectives as well as internal affairs doing an investigation. That is really odd unless someone did die. Why would internal affairs be interested if no one was even wounded? Or apprehended? Does IA investigate any time an off duty officer discharges his weapon? (just a thought) But homicide . . . that seems odd if no one was killed in the incident.
"The officer fired his personal weapon and the suspect ran off, detectives said"
maybe he fired a 'warning shot' and not an intent to kill shot, who knows? also, maybe it wasn't an intruder, but maybe it was a donut delivery guy mistaken as an intruder, I mean it was a cops house and all.....but who knows?
