I'd like to buy a restaurant gift card for a couple we know in their 40s. They've been very good to us and I'd like to thank them at Christmas. They have children but I was thinking something for date night.
I was focusing on either uptown or South Park. Would like to spend between $50 and 65. Type of cuisine doesn't matter, they are adventurous people. I'm just hoping to steer away from chains. They work very long hours so don't get out as often as they should.
We have gone to a lot of eateries in the area but looking for input from others.
I was in town this weekend and ate at Cowfish near South Park. Sushi and Burgers. Both very good. They also have some fusion rolls. It was a fun place and we really enjoyed it. We are in our 30's.

I absolutely LOVE Cowfish. There's a young Black male server that is fabulous! Oh, how I wish I could remember his name right now!
I think it's generally a great experience for anyone. I think I have only hesitated because the couple is Asian. Chinese specifically.
300 East in Dilworth was first pop in my head. The generous gift card would be enough to cover dinner for both and glass of wine or dessert. Dinner | 300 East
I love Cowfish but it wouldn't be my first choice for date night. Kind of loud. Look into Rooster's, Georges Brasserie, Upstream or Toscana. All are near the mall. Not too far away is good Food on Montford which is rapidly becoming one of my favorite restarants in town.
I missed that you said uptown as well. 131 Main in Dilworth had a fire a while back but I believe it's reopening tomorrow. But I still feel like some of the best restaurants in Charlotte (non-ethnic ones - the best of those are on Central) are concentrated in Southpark. And there are no parking issues like you get with uptown.
Yeah, it's fine for work lunches but nothing special (131).
