Can anyone recommend a Blue Cross doctor/provider in Charlotte who could help with osteoporosis?

OrthoCarolina Clinic have recommended finding a primary care doctor who specializes in such diagnosis and treatment. Open to all suggestions, including a gynecologist or nurse with relevant experience.

Thank you for any help.

*bump*

(Yesterday was Monday --most people's busy day -- perhaps better luck today!)

No suggestions? I am very unfamiliar with the US health care system. Doctors don't seem to know of/refer patients to other practitioners here (?). Without a personal recommendation, what should one do? Google and take a chance on a doctor who may be able to help? Go to a large general hospital (if so, which?) ...

Unfortunately, osteoporosis is not a condition in which doctors specialise, exactly. It's more an area with which they might gain experience, possibly through a specialty like gynaecology or orthopaedics or elderly care.

Again, thanks for any thoughts or suggestions to help in this search .

Someone has kindly sent some very helpful information via private message.

For others who may be searching for specialists in this field, try the Arthritis and Osteoporosis Consultants of the Carolinas (see AOCC : Home ).

This is truly a very helpful forum.
