Edible Art of Charlotte: 704-342-2253 They are fantastic as well! Not only are they a work of art ,they taste scrumptious! A friend had her baby shower cake made from there. Everyone was blown away. Cost is a factor I am sure, but WELL WORTH IT. |

That is one thing that the Charlotte area is lacking is good bakeries!
Best one I have found isn't near Matthews or Indian Trail. I would be interested if there is a GREAT bakery in that area though. The one I go to is SUAREZ Bakery in the Park Rd Shopping Center...and long time residents will remember them as THE FEDERAL BAKE SHOP! YUM YUM!!!!! |

7 oh 4 - yes, we do need more bakeries. Seems like an astute entrepreneur should relocate here and make us all happy w/ a wonderful bakery - there is no market saturation here - wide open. |

I highly recommend Hansel & Gretel. There are 2 locations, one on Harris Blvd, and one in Concord. It's on the other side of town, but well worth it. The last cake they did for me was for an ice cream and pickles baby shower-all I did was hand them the invitation and they did a fantastic job! I don't really like almond cake, and I could eat theirs for days. Hansel & Gretel's Bakery - Charlotte, NC.

OK, once again it seems like we could all use a definition here. What is considered a bakery, and what does one have to consider to be a good bakery vs. just an average bakery?

By the way, what is it with bakeries and the hours they're open? Why do they all feel the need to open at the crack of dawn, and then close before most folks can get out of work and stop by for goodies?

Nova's Bakery in the Park Road Shopping center is very good.

A true bakery is NOT in a grocery store. It is a stand alone business that hopefully sells VERY good cakes, cookies, pies, sweets...etc!
Harris Teeter & Bi-Lo is NOT a bakery! Always bypass Nova for SUAREZ in Park Rd shoping center. Will have to check it out. Is it the same Nova that use to be on Central Ave near Plaza-Midwood? |

Harris Teeter & Bi-Lo is NOT a bakery! QUOTE] Very True! Why is it that Harris Teeter is capable of baking crusty, delicious bread, but no one else has thought of opening a bakery that sells just breads, rolls and pasteries? I would go out of my way for a decent bakery, that's NOT a coffee shop or restaurant (i.e. Panera). |
