The unfortunate part is that I *really* enjoy having the Panthers here, and there are certainly a number of cities out there that would pay much more than 125MM to have the Panthers in their city.
You're right......Indianapolis paid $750m, Santa Clara paid $850m, Minneapolis paid $400+m, Kansas City paid roughly $300m, the Cowboys received $400+m, Chicago paid $300+m....so, the request by the Panthers is not out of line. The only thing clouding the issue becomes personal opinion and crazy government beliefs.

Panthers routinely state the 100 mile radius around Charlotte in regards to these kinds of stats. IMO that is somewhere around 7M - 8M people. And IMO, they get revenue from the RDU area too.

You are not telling a very convincing story here.

The Charlotte Observer has an article today as well. Interesting the CRVA wants to prioritize the Charlotte Convention Center ahead of Panthers. i.e. "It's more important".

Look my numbers up, they are real. Just not sure you know how to read a financial statement.

First, your numbers are inflated. But, even with your numbers LA is twice the size. Are you suggesting that the team has the same value in both cities?

WSOCtv flat stated, they were more than able to finance the stadium upgrades without tax money.

If tax money is going to be spent, there are certainly people with real needs & hardships and better uses for this money than spending it on this bunch of spoilt multi-millionaires. The state absolutely made the right call.
Did Richardson ever say himself personally was hurting? The only thing I see in there is that he claimed that NFL owners in general had a negative cash flow, not himself.

So, no, from a financial point of view, Richardson would be a much wealthier man in LA than Charlotte.
LA hasn't been great for NFL teams. Frew has some good points.

LA has not had a team in a long time to make an assessment. What you are comparing is a market of 14m residents with higher wealth levels to one that on the outer boundaries is 5-6m. LA would be a coup for higher advertising levels, sponsorships, premium seats all of which would increase cashflow and profits.

I disagree, Frew has not made a point.

Interesting. I tend to agree that the value of the Panthers would be much greater in a market the size of LA. If Richardson wanted to maximize the value of his team, he could easily move there.

As for what has been posted, this is an interesting read. I enjoy coming to see the Panthers from Greenville. We typically stay a night or two and enjoy the town. But, from what I see here, there is a case to be made financially in providing state support. I have not seen an argument that would suggest not helping is a smart move.

How does giving taxpayer money to a football team increase productivity or output...any additional money spent on entertainment uptown is just money that would have been spent elsewhere; so you are most likely taking away from some other part of the region to spend it in the city...
