Presently trying to book a late February ski vacation with my sons who live in Pittsburgh. I thought we should fly USAirways. They could fly thru here and then we could arrive in Denver on the same flight.
Pittsburgh-Charlotte-Denver roundtrip $398
Charlotte-Denver roundtrip $863
The price difference is ridiculous plus I have to pay for my luggage! What a bunch of bandits.
I am not at poverty level but I will meet them in the Denver airport, not on the airplane.

What dates did you model this on? I'm seeing averages of $350 and less for flights from Charlotte to Denver with appropriate stay overs.
Weekend getaways to Scottsdale, San Diego just got a little cheaper.....and I for one can't wait either. It's freaking ridiculous what US Airways charges. Trust me they will be a welcome presence in Charlotte. Charlotte is notorious for its high fares......Was out in Scottsdale in September and even the Hertz Rent A Car Guy was like whoa..... it cost an arm and leg to fly out of there.....All i could do was concur. Not to mention that we have the highest internet rates in the nation.....Charlotte's gotta do better.

It was for 5 days but I wanted my sons to fly thru here so we could arrive in Denver on the same plane. The AA flights for the same days are $354. I am not flying USAirways. The price difference will more than pays for the lift tickets plus numerous beers.

Well I certainly can't debate the facts since I don't have what I need to research it myself.

The issue is, the OP wanted the particular flight her sons would be on.
nacmd70, I see you've already made other plans, but couldn't you have bought the ticket including Pittsburgh, and only used the Charlotte - Denver portion? I don't fly enough to know the rules & restrictions, but I've heard of folks doing something similar.

My boarding pass would have to show that I boarded in Pittsburgh or the ticket would be cancelled, even if I had checked in online. If I wanted to deplane in Charlotte on the return, I could always get off but I would have to carry on luggage. They would not just check my luggage to Charlotte for a roundtrip PIT to DEN.
In my "research" I could fly to PIT on AA or Delta for about $100, join them to Denver and on the return deplane in Charlotte. That would still save a few hundred dollars over the CLT to DEN USAirways ticket but it would be too much of a PITA. Still not as cheap as the AA ticket. BUT will ticket prices increase or decrease when/if American and USAirways merge.

Which we can't model without the dates. Sometimes it's hard to be curious around here.
