I got a speeding ticket 32 in a 25mph zone what should I do
Hello- I got a ticket for speeding 32 in a 25MPH zone in Davidson,Mecklenburg Co. last night cop said he got me at 35mph on his radar but wrote the ticket as 32 in a 25mph zone so I would have no points. The fine is $15 plus $188 court costs total $203 payable by mail or online. Can I beat the court costs? I haven't had a ticket of any kind in the past 15 years,I have a clean driving record.
I'm no expert on what to do but would note for you don't go over 5 in the city and 10 on the interstate. Good Luck with the ticket I don't see how it could be a big deal.
Even if you can beat the court costs, you'll probably have to go to court to do so. Which means paying for parking, taking time off work, etc. Just paying the fine would actually be cheaper for me than doing that and may be for you too.
I tried to beat a ticket once... cop was driving in the other direction when he clocked me and the road had a slight incline. Probably could have beat it but once I calculated cost I wouldn't really win or save money... so I took the DA's reduced speed and paid it.
It's not worth fighting over IMO unless you don't have a job or won't lose money taking time off.
The fight is not the ticket but the inflated insurance cost that you may incur. Granted most insurance companies wave the first offense and keep you rates the same, but this one is easily moved into the non moving violation category with the help of a lawyer. Pay a lawyer to have it changed to a non moving violation and save your one ticket allowance for when you really might need it.
Get it reduced to improper equipment. No time lost from job, lawyer will handle it without you having to show your face.
I don't plan to go to court,I plan to go to the ADA's traffic citation station,On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, an Assistant District Attorney (ADA) staffs a station that is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This station is located on the second floor of the Mecklenburg County Courthouse in the Clerk's Office. The DA desk is to the far right of the clerks' windows. The ADA at this station can reduce speeding tickets
