Default Anybody work near Executive Center Drive?

I just found out that my company is opening an office in Charlotte NC. It is in a place called Executive Center Drive. Does anyone know that area? I will be leaving NJ (Thank God!) early next year. Should we rent (if yes, where???) or buy something quick! Looking forward to the Southern hospitality.

Yes, I know the area. This is a fine business park to work in during the day. However, you do not want to live in the immediate area. If you buy, how much can you spend? Do you have children?

I agree. The area is a little seedy after dark. You have plenty of close by areas to choose from Stay on the south side around South Park, or even in Fort Mill, SC woouldn't be bad.

That's IBM Research Drive I believe. I think Exec Center is near exit 5. Maybe I am mixed up.

There are several areas with "Executive" or "Center" in them so it can be confusing. They include SouthPark area hotels (Executive Park, where the Hilton is off exit 5), University (University Executive Park Dr), and off Albemarle Rd.

HOWEVER, lovesmountains was referring to the Albemarle Rd area where the actual address is Executive Center Dr.

I live a few miles from the Executive Center and agree with Groove and lovesMountains that the area immediately next to Executive Center is questionable. However, there are nice neighborhoods not far from there which I can recommend. You might look for instance in Brightmoor in Matthews. Your commute would be against the traffic. There are also two neighborhoods off Rama Road: McClintock Woods and Stonehaven where you could find a house for that price and once again have an easy commute - probably 10-15 minutes. My neighborhood, called Coventry Woods, is very pleasant but is questionable to those who don't live here. Houses are appreciating but do top out at around $200,000. They are also not McMansions by any means. Your commute from here would be 5 to 10 minutes. You'll have to look for yourself. Although I don't like to throw money away on rent, I guess that I would rent for six months until you get to know the city and talk to your co-workers. There is a definite bias toward South Charlotte in the city and you might feel better being there.

Finally you might want to stay at the Hampton Inn which is not too far from Executive Park.

Executive Center is on Albemarle Road between N.Sharon-Amity and Farm Pond Lane. Going out from the city it's on the right hand side of Albemarle Road.
