As a former smoker I hate it when people smoke around me where I have an assigned seat and can't move. (the racetrack).
I smoked for twenty years and never realized how bad smokers smell until after I quit.
Smokers don't realize how bad they smell, their clothes smell, their breath smells and I no longer want to smell bad like they do.
So for that reason I am glad they have a no smoking policy at CMS.

Did anyone make security aware of it? Did security ignore it?

Smoking rooms suck...

But give me a secluded patio or service entrance and it's all good.

100 degrees or -30 doesn't matter.

Nope - all closed up. As someone else mentioned, it has probably been at least 4-5 years now. And a number of the casinos also now do not allow smoking off of the casino floor (you used to be able to walk around any part of a hotel while smoking).

Why people bring small kids to Vegas in the first place I will never understand.

I remember one time I was in Nashville airport and they had one of these smoking fishbowls. I was in there having a smoke with a bunch of other travelers and a couple came in with their small child (looked to be maybe 6 or 7 years old) and both lit up. Pretty much every person smoking in their gave them a dirty look and several gave them a hard time about it - it didn't take long for the one parent to take the kid out of there and figure out that maybe they should take trns smoking while the other one watched the kid outside of the smoking lounge.

But to get back on topic...it sounds like the track owners handled this in a way to make eveyone happy. The non-smokers do not have to be subjected to the second hand smoke, and the smokers are able to light up and still be able to watch the race. Seems like a win/win all the way around.

I remember waiting for a family member to visit one of those glass cages in the USAirways terminal at LAX about 15 years ago.

Last time we visited California, the same family member asked me where the smoking section was. I looked around and said "Nevada". At least I got a laugh from the gate agent.
