So I got the job in Charlotte and must move in 2 1/2 weeks. I will be working off Executive Center Drive in Charlotte. Hours are from 10am to 7pm. Looking for apartments, no more than 750.00 a month and will commute up to 45 minutes (with traffic). Finding it hard to find apartments with availability so close to date. Would also like to know if anyone knows of apartment complexes that participate in the preferred employer program (Mecklenburg County Human Resources). Just want a safe place to live (no shootings, stabbings, continual break ins...etc). I will be in Charlotte this weekend to look at any suggestions! Thanks!!

I would suggest getting a broker. We drove up 2 or 3 times apartment hunting with no luck. We hired a broker, gave a list of wants and needs and he showed us 4 places in 2 hours.

That's a quick deadline though... you may want to search for an extended stay as a back up. It would suck to sign a lease quickly and then realize the complex is Baghdad at night.

I'd look in the town of Matthews. There are complexes in that range.

Avoid any complex in the town of Mint Hill, near the Charlotte border.

Congrats on your new job!

Look in Mallard Creek area (north CLT, west of the university). I lived there and often commuted to Sharon Amity area for work (where Exec Center drive is) - its a singe road the entire way, which does get traffic heavy from time to time but would def be within a 40 min drive even at its heaviest. Mallard Creek area is cheap and convenient to the Concord amenities along 85. When I lived there 2 years ago at a complex off of Mallard Creek Road, I paid 640 for a large 1 br. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much everyone for all the advice and help! I am hoping to sign with Marquis of Carmel Commons as it has an opening that just happens to be my work start date! I am still going to look at other options just in case that one falls through. I ready for this move and to finally be in Charlotte! Thanks again and I will let you all know where I end up

Those are very nice apartments in a very nice part of town Ladiem26. Commute shouldn't be too bad at all. Congratulations and welcome to Charlotte. Good luck!

!
Agree that Matthews would be a good spot to look in, but what's wrong with Mint Hill?

I know a few people who have lived at Marquis at Carmel Commons and liked it. It's a nice place. I live at Colonial Grand at Beverly Crest. I believe you can get a one bedroom in your price range here (I pay $652 but I think they're renting new around $730-ish?). It's pretty safe and quiet here.
