Anyone know how much the basic (aka cheapest) membership is at the new Gold's Gym in the Epicenter? I've tried calling and asking but they won't tell me over the phone. I have to schedule an appointment to come in and get a tour. I really don't have time for that nor do I want to have to suffer thru some long sales pitch.
I'm new to the Charlotte area and looked into joining Gold's about a month ago. I went in for the tour (nice gym), and was quoted between $70-$80 a month for one year with a waived enrollment fee. Also, was given a 7-day pass. There's a ton of machines, a smoothie bar, cinema room where you can run on treadmill while viewing a movie, steam rooms in the locker rooms, towel service, laundry service, etc. You name it, they have it. Unfortunately, I was ONLY interested in the classes and found that a couple of them were rather boring. I'm accustomed to Les Mills Body Pump classes from 24- hr Fitness and Gold's instructors didn't measure up even though they use the same techniques. I decided not to join at this time.
It is a super-nice gym, I did the free tour and week pass too when it opened and the price was higher. It seems they've dropped the price quite a bit, to where it might be worth it for how nice of a gym it is. Lots of amenities and everything is brand-new.

I live in the Bay Area, and I love the classes at 24HF. Body Pump and Boot Camp are fantastic, and they're available during my lunch break. It's a shame that they don't have it in Charlotte because I pay $49/year. When I move out there, it's unlikely I'll be able to find a comparable gym close to work where I can take classes during lunch.
There's plenty of gym options. But, IMO nothing came close to 24hr Fitness classes :-( However, I'm told that the YMCA is the thing around here. I looked into it and wasn't all that interested. But, I noticed alot of activity during lunch hours.
